Valentine’s Day (or Singles Awareness Day, depending on your outlook) is fast approaching and we are cooking up a storm in the kitchen as we experiment (and taste & taste…umm, can jeans actually be let out or should I just pull out my fatty girl ones from storage?) with delicious and different fare for you. In the meantime, this week: Crawfish Etoufee with Dirty Rice and Split Pea Soup with Smoked Ham. Both absolutely scrumptious. Also two new vodka infusions: Lemon & Rosemary and Watermelon & Whipped Cream. Danger, Will Robinson! For those of you that are still following your New Year’s Resolutions, we have Pavlova with Chantilly Cream & Fruit for dessert. Only slightly sinful. Of course, if you want to taste total richness, try our Bread Pudding with Whiskey Caramel Sauce. OMG. That’s all I can say.
This weekend we’ll add our yummy Lasagna with Meat Sauce served with Salad and Garlic Bread along with some fun wine pairings.
Tracy & James McKinney have given us the date for our first Cheese Class: Understanding Cheese I — Saturday, February 25th from 2-4 p.m. A great selection of cheese and accompaniments, vino to match, and lots of fun (just wait for Tracy to talk about malolactic fermentation!). My hair’s wet. My socks are wet. My feet are wet. So…hot food. And if you’re wondering if I went and worked out last week at our new gym, wonder no more. I did not. But enough about me.
This week we have Spicy Red Beans & Rice with Smoky Sausage as well as Corn Chowder. Still have Salmon Cakes with Remoulade Sauce and Spinach & Artichoke Dip with house-made tortilla chips & toasts and our low cal/low fat Yogurt, Fruit, and Granola Parfait in addition to our regular menu. We are keeping our coffeepot on for you with our coffee drinks (Gran Godiva, The Dream Cream, Café Almond, and Irish Coffee … or just plain old java). This weekend we’ll have a terrific Mexican Dinner complete with all the home-made fixings and whatever seafood tickles our fancy at the market on Friday morning – ready by 5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
We’ve finalized another Brad Thompson Music Night: Wednesday, February 1st from 7-9 p.m. We’ll be serving a cheese plate to each table and have heavy hors d’oeuvres for $20 per person – well worth it. On Brad’s last visit, we had standing room only – so make a reservation by calling us at 817-281-9500 or emailing to firstname.lastname@example.org. A perfect Wednesday evening to get you ready for the rest of the week.

Well, my guess is that many of you have taken down your holiday trimmings and thrown away (or eaten) all that candy that was in your stockings. We joined a fitness club (another near-yearly event) and have every intention of using it liberally, although experience tells me that it may just be something I like to think about from a prone position (and I don’t mean reclining on a weight bench, either).
It’s New Year’s Resolution time, and we have a couple of dishes that you may be interested in trying – our Tortilla Soup has less than 350 calories and 5.5 grams of fat. If you opt out of the cheese & tortillas, it’s only 96 calories and .5 grams of fat (but who would choose to leave the best part out of the soup?). Or get fresh housemade Pasta with our own Marinara Sauce – only 350 calories. For dessert this week, our Yogurt, Fruit, and Granola Parfait is low cal and low fat. Ahh, the luxury of being virtuous without giving up fabulous flavor!
And for luck, order Hoppin’ John – it’s fresh black eyed peas in a sausage stew. I want to be sure my luck’s all good, so I’m chowing down.
Try one of our coffee drinks while it’s chilly – deliciously named: Gran Godiva, The Dream Cream, Café Almond, and Irish Coffee. We can even make them with decaf coffee so you can sleep when you get home.
